We share solutions for creating and connecting digital knowledge resources
minima.media is an operational network of actors from education, research, and digital development. It was founded in March 2000 under a European programme for political education.
About the Network
The network was initiated with the goal of creating a platform for the development and provision of educational resources.
The first version was realised in cooperation with Apple Germany. The basis was Apple's Platform WebObjects. When Apple unexpectedly discontinued WebObjects in 2008, our concept changed. The basis should no longer be a large platform, but rather small distributed resources that can be independently expanded, connected, and replaced. Since then, the project has been called minima.media.
The early departure from the platform principle made us practitioners and pioneers of the Web 3.0, the new era of the Internet, and we are developing innovative solutions for education, research, and culture. As professional actors, we are interested in solutions that are not only innovative but also sustainable. Thus, we ensure comprehensive quality assurance across the network.
What we offer
We share solutions for the emerging Web 3.0.
Web 3.0 marks the beginning of a new era of the Internet. It is no longer based on centralized platforms like Web 2.0, but on decentralized resources that can be independently expanded and networked. Our early departure from the platform principle has made us practitioners and pioneers of Web 3.0, and we use the opportunities for innovative projects in education, research, and culture.
What matters to us
We are committed to networkable knowledge resources.
We are committed to digital knowledge resources that can be extensively expanded and networked. This is not possible, or only very limitedly so, with conventional platforms. With the FAIR Data principles, there is finally a globally recognized framework for creating such knowledge resources based on interoperable formats and standards. We see ourselves as part of this movement and help actors in education, research, and culture make a smooth but secure transition.
